About the Absa CSI Trust Graduate Historical Debt Relief Intervention

The Absa CSI Trust Graduate Historical Debt Relief Intervention is an intervention aimed at clearing the historical debt of students who have completed their studies but are unable to graduate due to outstanding fees. By settling this debt, the bursary enables students to graduate, transition into the workforce, and access sustainable earning opportunities. 

Participation in the YES4Youth Programme

As part of the ABSA Historical Debt Project, successful applicants may be invited to participate in the YES4Youth Programme.

The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national initiative aimed at creating meaningful work opportunities for young South Africans. Through this programme, eligible students and graduates may gain access to employment opportunities, workplace experience, skills development, and career support that can help improve their future employability.

As a beneficiary of the ABSA Historical Debt Project, YES4Youth may contact you regarding opportunities linked to the programme. Participation may include completing surveys, sharing employment-related information, attending information sessions, or being considered for suitable work opportunities.

Participation in the YES4Youth Programme does not guarantee employment; however, it provides access to opportunities that may support your transition into the world of work.

Information and documents needed for application
  • Please make sure that your ID copy:
    • Is certified within the last 6 months and the certification date is clear.
    • Is not password-protected.
    • Shows all your details (name, picture, and ID number) clearly and is readable—not too dark/light or blurred.
    • If you have a smart card ID, both sides of the card are certified.
    • Matches the details entered on your profile (same name, surname, and ID number).
    • Is a scanned copy (not a photo or screenshot).
    • Is not cut off in any way—the whole ID is visible.
  • Please make sure your letter of completion/proof of registration:
    • Has the official university letterhead or an official university stamp.
    • Is for your final year / completed qualification.
    • Is not password-protected.
    • Is clear and legible (all details readable).
  • Please make sure that your EEA1 form:
    • Is completed using the official Department of Labour template: Download the EEA1 Form
    • Is filled in electronically — no need to print, sign, and scan.
    • Uses your student number in the box labelled “Employee Number”.
    • Has all sections completed clearly and accurately, including your demographic information and declaration.
    • Is saved as a PDF or Word document and is not password-protected.
    • Is legible and not cut off in any way.
